SEO + GEO
Optimize a page for both classic search retrieval and AI citation/action. Treat SEO as the discovery layer and GEO as the extraction, grounding, and agent-action layer.
Non-negotiables
- Place the primary keyword in at least 4 of 6 locations: URL slug, title tag, H1, H2, meta title, body intro
- Place primary entity and adjacent entities naturally in title, H1, intro, body
- Run entity gap analysis against top competitors (top 5)
- Add JSON-LD schema in the page <head> and mirror on-page entities inside schema fields (sameAs, identifiers, brand)
- Add explicit provenance: datePublished, dateModified, author/publisher and clear source anchors for factual claims
- Add a concise 1–3 sentence extractable summary (TL;DR) at the top for AI extraction and Web Guide-style SERP surfaces
- Surface live/local signals where relevant (GBP/Business Profile, dynamic inventory, event times)
- Provide llms.txt and llms-full.txt to signal access and preferred indexing for agent/AI crawlers
What changed (signals to watch)
- Google Web Guide / magazine-style SERPs: AI summaries are curated alongside organic results — make pages directly extractable and citable
- Agentic systems ("Google-Agent", agentic commerce): content that supports automated action or clear next-steps (APIs, endpoints, structured CTAs) has new value
- Structured data / AI labeling: search engines are adding AI-content labeling guidance to structured data docs — use schema + explicit provenance and citation fields where supported
- Local profiles are dynamic ranking factors: treat GBP/Business Profile as a live engagement channel, keep hours, offers, inventory, and posts updated
